A half dozen of us (Lew & Cora, Roger, Lynne, and Anne Marie & Bill) decided that we still weren't done after brunch. So off we went to the American Treasure Tour Museum in Oaks - a museum owned by an anonymous collector. We saw more player pianos, nickelodeons, band organs, calliopes, photo players, and music boxes in one place than ever before. And there was so much more stuff... 100k square feet of old stuff from floor to ceiling! Everything from dolls, to phones, to cars, to store displays. But the thing that caught our eye (and brought a tear to it) was a huge collection of miniature dioramas. We are sure that everyone remembers our old art teacher, Bob Omrod, and his love for making dioramas. When he passed away in 2021, he willed his huge collection to the museum. We spent a lot of time looking over the four by thirty foot display and remembering him. We learned some other interesting things about Mr. Omrod. For one, that is only part of his collection! And his memorial was held at the museum! Soon, it was time for us to board the tram... yes, a tram like at the shore! It took us on a 45 minute tour of the rest of the museum - including old store displays from the 1940s. It was an amazing afternoon and a place we recommend visiting.
All too soon, the tram ride and our weekend of celebration wound down to a close. Three days of being back together again. Three days of memories remembered and memories made. Three days of renewing and revitalizing old friendships. We bid all farewell and safe travels... until next time. And there will be a next time! Homecoming is coming up soon and with it, more celebrating! And there will be more reunions, and mini-reunions. For those who have moved away from the area... don't forget! Let us know when you are back in the SF area so that we can have another excuse to get together!
Until next time... Go SFHS73 Family! Go Rams!
