The venue for our big reunion party was Copperfield's in Limerick. We knew it back in the day as Lakeside. It turned out to be the perfect place for our event. We had our own entrance, a welcome hall, and our party room... with a stage for our DJ (P.J. Noce), a dance floor, and plenty of room for tables and the buffet!
As we entered the blue and gold decorated Welcome Hall where we were greeted by Lew Phillips and his wife Cora. We gathered our goodie bags, put on our name tags (thanks for embarrassing us with our old yearbook pictures ?), and headed in to meet up with our old friends. We enjoyed some adult beverages and the hot hor d'oeuvres that were circulating around. After a while, it was time for Jim Haldeman to try to bring our squadron to attention. I sure hope his Marine squadron snapped to attention better than we did, but he finally got our attention. Jim gave a short speech (OK, short for Jim), then our Rev. Paul Jones gave a lovely invocation. Before we grabbed our utensils and headed for the buffet, there was an additional presentation. Jim LaBombard presented Jim Haldeman with a custom-made vest on behalf of the 50th Committee and our class in thanks for all that he has done over the years to bring us together and keep us together through our reunions and mini-reunions. Thanks, Jim, for all you have done for us!
With the speeches and presentations out of the way, it was time to dig into a delicious buffet. If anyone came away hungry, it was their own fault. But, we do have to admit that we saw a number of people who were so busy talking that they wound up going up for their firsts, while others were going back for seconds! As we all chowed down, we were entertained by our DJ of the evening while our photographer, Stacy Phy, wandered around taking pictures. With full stomachs, it was time for some of us to dance, while most of us kept chatting. The music was perfect for the evening! P.J. played songs from our graduation days (and a cut from our old band album). He kept the volume at a perfect level so that we could dance AND talk. Meanwhile, Stacy was grabbing lots of pictures so that we would have a great keepsake of photos.
The committee not only decorated the hall (with the help of some SFHS72 classmates), they provided the decorations. Special thanks to Jim LaBombard for providing the DJ and photographer, as well as providing (and making) the goodies.
We had so much fun, we had to break the picture into FOUR galleries!!!
Enjoy them all!!!
